DROID Turbo 2 Receiving Update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow (Updated)

Verizon began pushing an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow today to the DROID Turbo 2. After first showing up in a soak test and then to employee units in December, we’re sort of surprised it took this long to go public to customers. But hey, it’s here!

To recap, the upgrade to Marshmallow includes access to Now on Tap, Doze mode, app standby, better app permissions controls, external storage being used as internal storage, simpler do not disturb settings, better volume controls, and Direct Share to contacts. Motorola and Verizon also killed Ambient Display, since Motorola would rather you use their far superior option, Moto Display. They built in new functions to Moto Assist as well, plus they integrated Attentive Display into Moto Actions.

You can read all about the update at the source link below, but in the end we are looking at build 24.14.9.

To try and pull the update, head into Settings>System updates.

Update 12:30PM:  For some reason, Verizon pulled the Turbo 2 software update page with the Marshmallow details. We aren’t sure why, but we’ll keep an eye on it.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 29: The update is back on. It should rollout on March 1.
