In celebration of Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle win at the Golden Globes, folks who don’t already have an Amazon Prime membership will be able to pick one up at a discounted price this weekend. Usually priced at $99 for a year, starting at 9pm PT on Friday, a year of Prime will only cost $73. The promo ends at 11:59pm local time on Sunday night.
With Prime, members gain access to free two-day shipping on many items on sale through Amazon, Prime Photos, Prime Music, Prime Video, and Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. For anyone who does a ton of shopping through Amazon, and who wants access to a bit of exclusive TV shows through Prime Video, it’s a great deal.
Here’s a pro tip. If you already have Prime, but say your membership is soon to expire, you can actually purchase one of these discounted memberships as a gift, then save it for yourself when your current membership expires.
In addition to this deal, Amazon is making Seasons 1 and 2 available for free to anyone who wants to watch it, starting at 9pm on Friday night, Prime membership or not. I have never watched Mozart in the Jungle, but if it’s good enough to net me a savings on Prime, then it must be awesome.
