Motorola announced the Moto Shop this morning, a pop up “experiential boutique” right in downtown Chicago. The reason for this shop is pretty straightforward. As we all know, shopping online makes purchasing goods very convenient, but Motorola would prefer a more personal experience, especially when it comes to smartphones and smartwatches. That is why, right in time for the holiday shopping season, folks in the Chicago area can check out new Motorola products in-person.
Inside the shop, you will find all of Motorola’s latest gadgets and gizmos, including the Moto X Pure Edition, Moto 360 (2nd Gen), and even the new DROID Turbo 2. To help demonstrate the DROID Turbo 2’s shatterproof display, it appears Motorola will even let you drop the device on a surface of your choosing, including hardwood, tile, cement, and blacktop pavement.
For smartwatch shoppers, Motorola will have all of the Moto Maker customization options on display for the Moto 360 (2nd Gen), which we assume you can order in-store and will then ship to your house. The same goes for the Moto X Pure Edition, as it is hard to find that device anywhere to check out in-person.
If you happen to live in the Chicago area, the Moto Shop will open this upcoming Saturday, November 7. A grand opening celebration is taking place on November 14. Moto Shop is located at 108 N. State St. (Suite 140 at Block 37) and will be open 10 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
