Google Messenger Updated With GIF Support and a Widget

Google’s Messenger app, a new-ish SMS app that exists outside of Hangouts even though Hangouts was supposed to be the future of messaging for Google, received an update this week that introduces GIF support and a widget. Oh, it also should perform better and have less bugs. That’s it! 

Is anyone using this app? Clearly, a few of you are, as our inbox was tipped a handful of times with news about the update. I’m just wondering why you aren’t using Hangouts? Is it because Hangouts is mostly terrible or does Messenger just work better as an SMS app? Would love to know!
