Cyanogen Inc and Qualcomm Collab to Provide Support for Best Features and UI Enhancements on Snapdragon Chips

Cyanogen and Qualcomm announced a new collaboration during MWC this week, which will focus on highlighting select features and user interface improvements in select upcoming Snapdragon-powered devices. To be exact, Cyanogen’s launcher application and personal information management apps across dialer, messaging, contacts, and calendar are included in this partnership.

The soonest we will see any Cyanogen code coupled with Qualcomm’s hardware in an official capacity will be for the upcoming Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD), planned for this upcoming April. The QRD program is designed to streamline the rapid introduction of devices at lower development costs. More importantly, processors in the 200, 400, and 600 series of Snapdragon chips will feature these select features and UI enhancements.

“The features and UI enhancements will be available from Cyanogen Inc. for Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors in the 200, 400 and 600 series, bringing the Cyanogen experience across multiple device tiers. Additionally, Cyanogen features such as the new Launcher will also be available for the QRD program across these tiers of Snapdragon processors,” Cyanogen stated in the press release.

According to Cyanogen, through this ongoing collaboration, the company will continue to add “exciting” new features and services in future releases.
