The Android distribution numbers were updated today to show the continue rise in share of Android 4.4 “Kit Kat.” While no longer the newest version of Android, Android 4.4 does not account for over a third of Android devices, weighing in at 33.9% (up from 30.2% in November). The rest of the versions have fallen, with Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) dropped to 48.7%, which is down from the 50.9% it sat at last month.
Ice Cream Sandwich (7.8%), Gingerbread (9.1%), and Froyo (0.5%) round out the rest.
Android 5.0 “Lollipop” did not make its first appearance on the chart this month. It either sits at less than 0.1% of the pie or Google decided to leave it off for now. Maybe next month?
