There is no denying that Samsung knows a thing or two about security; heck, even Google incorporated components of the Korea-based company’s Knox Security technology into Lollipop. But in an attempt to capture a larger slice of secure-device market, Samsung is going one step further.
Today, BlackBerry announced a partnership with the company to bolster security on Android devices.
As part of the deal, BlackBerry will deploy its BES12 enterprise mobility management platform onto Samsung Galaxy devices beginning early next year. Services will include malware protection and new encryption standards.
The agreement is an attempt to improve the attractiveness of Knox, which has thus far failed to make headway in the notoriously entrenched government and enterprise sectors. While some Galaxy devices have been certified for government use, estimates place their sale at roughly 2 percent of Samsung’s total market share.
