Samsung’s standalone smartwatch called the Gear S, running Tizen, is now available through Verizon (for an ungodly amount on-contract), AT&T, and Best Buy.
For Verizon, customers can pick up the Gear S smartwatch for $349.99 on a 2-year contract, or $399 at full retail. On AT&T, customers can grab the Gear S for $199 on-contract, and $299 at full retail. As for Best Buy, folks can grab the wearable at $199 on-contract or $329.99 at full retail.
For those needing a refresh, the Gear S features cellular data capabilities of its own, which is how carriers are justifying the 2-year contract deals. In terms of specs, the Gear S brings a 2″ Super AMOLED display, 4GB of storage, 300mAh battery, Tizen OS (meaning Samsung-only compatibility), and a 1GHz dual-core processor. The Gear S also packs a wide array of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, heart rate monitor, ambient light sensor, and UV detector.
If you want to say goodbye to your phone, and hello to a standalone smartwatch, here you go.
