Nexus 6 to Gain WiFi Calling on T-Mobile in Early 2015

In case T-Mobile’s Un-carrier 7.0 event did not make it clear, the wireless carrier is extremely committed to WiFi calling. Lest you were concerned the Nexus 6 would not support the carrier’s much-vaunted feature, you can now rest easy.

T-Mobile has confirmed in a press release that the Nexus 6 will gain support for WiFi calling in early 2015 after an over-the-air update.

T-Mobile said “enhancements” in Android 5.0 make adding the feature possible, which may explain why the Nexus 5 was never supported.

Since it is set to receive Android 5.0 soon, though, that opens the possibility of a retroactive update. There are of course no guarantees, though, until we hear official word.
