Dropcam Update Allows It to Work With Nest and Nest Protect

An update released last night to Dropcam’s Android app allows for the IP cam to work with Nest and Nest Protect in an automated fashion that you might find incredibly useful. By connecting your Dropcam devices to Nest or Nest Protect, you could have your Dropcam automatically turn on as you set your Nest away and leave for the day. You could also have Dropcam turn on, record, and update your activity feed if a Nest Protect were to detect smoke or CO.  

Kind of cool, right? To setup this functionality, open the Dropcam app, swipe out its side menu, and choose to connect with Nest. To then control the automated features, open the settings for each of your cameras and look for the “Nest Home + Away” option.

The rest of the update includes an enhanced camera setup, bug fixes, and improved usability.
