In news that is sure to delight enterprise users, Adobe has brought EchoSign, its e-signature service, to Android. E-signature services, which enjoy wide use in the corporate world, help to expedite the signing of legal documents by providing the means to serve them on electronic devices.
EchoSign, which was acquired by Adobe in 2011 and previously exclusive to iOS on mobile, integrates with Reader, Acrobat, Google Drive, Box, SharePoint, Salesforce, and Evernote to let you manage and monitor real-time pending documents. Signatures, which can be performed with either a finger or stylus, are transmitted using “enterprise-strength” security.
If you would like to give it a test drive, EchoSign is now live on Google Play. The app itself is free, but service is not – pricing starts at $14.95 per month.
EchoSign is the second Adobe app to migrate from iOS in recent months. Although the company’s support of Android could rightly be described as tepid, hopefully the move is indicative of a change in philosophy.
Note: From what we see in Google Play, compatibility is quite limited for this application, but we assume this is only a brief mix up on Adobe’s side. If you would like to download this app, keep checking back on Google Play to see if they have corrected this error.
Update: Adobe reached out to us to confirm compatibility, noting that “there was indeed an issue in Google Play this morning, which made EchoSign not searchable from mobile phones. The issue has since been resolved and now Adobe EchoSign is searchable and downloadable for anyone with a tablet or smartphone with a screen 4.5’’ or larger.”
