Google Glass is here … sort of. Today, Google made the Explorer Edition of Glass and a full run of accessories available for purchase through Google Play.
In addition to five colors of Glass – black, red, white, brown, and blue – frames, shades, and earbuds are present. Glass, of course, comes with a complimentary frame or shade.
Before you get too excited, the transition from invitation system to storefront had no effect on Glass’s price, which remains $1500. And the change doesn’t necessarily indicate plans a much broader launch – the model for sale on Google Play is explicitly the Explorer Edition, not the presumed consumer variant that will inevitably launch for a more palatable price at some point.
Still, it’s a positive step.
Anyone planning to plunk down $1,500 for a pair?
