MediaTek, a leader in mobile processors in international markets, is looking to take on the likes of Qualcomm with its newest introduction, the MT6795.
The MT6795 features an almost jaw-dropping list of specifications, but for us Americans who have been spoiled by NVIDIA’s Tegra lineup and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon family of SoCs, the MT6795’s spec list might almost seem dated. For the jaded among us, don’t worry, there is plenty to be excited about.
MediaTek is marketing the silicon as a way to “empower high-end device makers to leap into the Android 64-bit era.”
With all of that said, let’s talk specs. The MT6795 is an Octa-core chip featuring LTE support, dual-channel LPDDR3 memory clocked at 933MHz, 2K display support, 120Hz display support, MediaTek’s CorePilot technology which enables all eight cores to operate at full power simultaneously, and has capability to create and playback 480FPS 1080p Full HD super-slow motion videos.
Even better, MediaTek announced that MT6795-powered superphones will be commercially available by the end of 2014. We will be on the lookout for those.
With Qualcomm’s new line of Snapdragon chips and NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor, we as Android lovers are becoming very spoiled in the mobile processor side of things.
