Select HBO Programming Begins Streaming on Amazon Today

If ever there was a day to binge watch entire seasons of quality television, today would be that day. Amazon has made good on its promise to bring select HBO programming to Prime Instant Video, which means subscribers to Amazon Prime can now watch award-winning shows like The Wire, The Sopranos, and Deadwood at no additional charge.

Amazon’s arrangement with HBO extends beyond shows, though. The deal will also see HBO’s catalog of movies, mini-series, and documentaries join Amazon’s streaming library.

From the press release, here is a list of what you can expect:

  • All seasons of revered classics such as The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, Rome and Six Feet Under, and of recent favorites such as Eastbound & Down, Enlightened and Flight of the Conchords
  • Select seasons of current series such as True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and Treme
  • Epic miniseries, including Band of Brothers, The Pacific, John Adams, Parade’s End and Angels in America
  • Hit original movies like Mary and Martha, Temple Grandin and You Don’t Know Jack
  • Hilarious original comedy specials from Louis CK, Ellen DeGeneres, Lewis Black and Bill Maher
  • Pedigreed documentaries including When the Levees Broke, Ghosts of Abu Ghraib and the Autopsy and Iceman series

Over the course of the multi-year agreement, Amazon states it will add more seasons and shows like Girls and The Newsroom. For the Fire TV owners out there, that should definitely hold you over until HBO Go makes its way to your platform.

All I can say is, Amazon Prime is an amazing value. If you were on the fence about subscribing, is the HBO deal enough to get you to sign up?
