Yet another departure is taking place at HTC this week, alongside a report that the company’s head of design, Scott Croyle was leaving the company. Ford Davidson, who joined HTC three years ago after his company Dashwire was acquired, has his eyes set on the startup space, stating that now is a good time for his departure from HTC.
Dashwire’s acquisition spawned HTC’s Get Started tool, which allows owners of older HTC devices to transfer all of their data and settings to a newer HTC device with just a few clicks. It is an important tool for people who hate to re-setup their entire devices, but it appears Davidson thinks that the software team will do just fine now without him.
HTC recently launched the new HTC One m8, which is amazing, and our team on the software/service experience side, is rocking, so timing is good for me to get back to entrepreneurship.
We don’t think this departure is as dramatic as Croyle’s, but you never know about how the office atmosphere can change when someone departs.
