HTC’s Jason Mackenzie Calls Samsung’s Galaxy S5 a “Product Built Out of Cheap Plastic”

In wake of the launch of HTC’s 2014 flagship, the One (M8), a lot of Android talk has turned to “One (M8) vs. Galaxy S5,” with executives from both companies not shying away from the subject. We have already seen a friendly Twitter rivalry between HTC’s Jeff Gordon and Samsung’s Phillip Berne, but now the attention has shifted over to to Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America.

Mackenzie is quoted by Business Insider as saying, “If you want to buy a product built out of cheap plastic, there’s a solution for you” when questioned about Samsung’s flagship, and goes on to mention that “[HTC is] a company that invests in our customers and delivers a beautifully designed product that you can feel proud of.”

Even though Mackenzie makes some fairly large claims about the S5, sales will likely still be extraordinarily high given Samsung’s marketing prowess, likely resulting in less-than-hoped sales of the One (M8). Although, the year is still young, with plenty of time for consumers to decide which device they will be choosing.

Nevertheless, J-Mac, you’re on the right track. Just scrap the new ads, will ya?
