If last year was any indication as to how Samsung handles its device portfolio, we can expect 2014 to be filled with countless Android-powered devices from the manufacturer. The newest to get hyped is the Galaxy S5 Zoom, a sequel to last year’s Galaxy S4 Zoom, which is a hybrid between the main Galaxy S flagship device, and a Galaxy Camera.
Since Samsung showed off the all new Galaxy Camera 2 at CES in January, and has the Galaxy S5 coming in April, the Galaxy S5 Zoom should be a perfect marriage of the two.
With specs apparently posted on GFXBench, we can see that the GS5 Zoom is no slouch. The device should come powered with the all-new Exynos 5 Hexa processor, 2GB of RAM, feature a massive 19MP shooter on its backside, a 2MP front-facing camera, and come with a 4.8″ HD touchscreen display. It won’t stand head and shoulders above last year’s model, but with the minor bump seen in the Galaxy S5 over the Galaxy S4, this is to be expected.
There is no word on when the Galaxy S5 Zoom could hit the market, but we assume it will take place sometime after the April launch of the flagship GS5.
