Out There, a Journey Through Deep Space in an Attempt to Make it Home

If you couldn’t get enough of Sandra Bullock being completely helpless while in space, then check out a semi-new game on Google Play titled, Out There. In the game, you play as a human who has been sent to the outer reaches of our solar system in an attempt to find materials for the continued existence on Earth. When you awake from your hibernation, you find that you are no longer in Earth’s solar system, but are actually now lost in space, very far from home.

Using materials in your ships cargo hold, you must explore the galaxy, praying you find enough materials for your ship to make it back to Earth alive. There are three basic things you need to live longer in this game – oxygen, hull materials for when your ship takes damage, and fuel. Once one of those things is completely depleted, and the world’s you mine bear no gifts, you are lost in space forever and must start all over.

Out There is extremely frustrating the first few times you play it, as the game is quite stingy when awarding supplies and chance discoveries of alien space stations that equip your ship with fuel and oxygen. Sometimes you get lucky, and other times, you do not.

Besides collecting materials, there are plenty of other things to do. Your character can attempt to find alien life and communicate with it, explore black holes, and build new technologies using scraped together parts which will help you during your journey. It’s quite the game, and for anyone who loves a more-complicated title, this game was made for you. The one piece of advice I will offer is that I highly recommend going through the tutorial before you get started, though.

The price of Out There is $3.99, but I would say it’s worth every penny. Go check it out and let us know what you think.
