Samsung Galaxy S5 Should Hit the Market by April, New Galaxy Gear Also

This week at CES in Las Vegas, Bloomberg was able to sit down with Lee Young Hee , the executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile division. The discussed topics focused mainly on the upcoming Galaxy S5, and it appears that the device won’t have much to surprise us with upon its unveiling.

In the newest report that details Samsung’s next major flagship, the device will hit the global market in April, and could most certainly come with an iris scanner as we reported previously. As of right now, Samsung is reportedly “studying the technology,” hoping to have it ready in time.

A new model of the Galaxy Gear will also launch alongside the new Galaxy S5, which should be an interesting release, as it could be a test to see if Samsung learned anything from their first wearables launch. The price was high, the software was lacking, but overall, it’s not the worst smartwatch on the market. Many others speculate that Apple will have its smartwatch prepped for announcement sometime in 2014, so it could be an all out wearables battle.

As for the Galaxy S5’s overall look, nothing was spoken about specs or display size, but Samsung said that they would like to “go back to the basics.”

When we moved to S4 from S3, it’s partly true that consumers couldn’t really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasn’t as big. For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it’s about the display and the feel of the cover.

If the April launch is essentially confirmed, then we are just a few short months away. Excited?
