If you are the type to cringe when you think about how many people have touched a public door handle during a day, today’s news might be for you. Today at CES, Corning is showing off a new type of glass that is said to keep the front of your smartphone or tablet free of germs and bacteria.
Long known for their Gorilla Glass that is featured in many of today’s device, this new product is a welcome change. Corning says they took ionic silver, an antimicrobial agent, and incorporated it into the glass. This will ensure that the glass stays cleaner over a longer time rather than just a coating on the glass. Corning says that many OEMs are currently testing this new type of glass, so we could see it in our hands sooner rather than later. Good news right in the middle of cold season.
