Google Allowing Users to Download a Copy of Gmail and Google Calendar Data

Security is a top priority for many people these days, and for most of us, Google is at the center of most of our services. Google introduced a Takeout service almost a year ago that allowed Google users to take all of their info with them if they ever decided to move to a different service. Starting today, Gmail and Calendar data will soon be specifically available for download for all Google users who choose to leave.

In their announcement today, Google said they are providing this service to make “it easy to back up your data or move to another service.” Not that they are encouraging people to move from Gmail, but they want everyone to have control over important information like “old love letters, your first job offer, or that 100-message thread discussing the merits of various cat videos.” They are also now offering a single download that will give you archives of Google+, YouTube, Drive, and other Google data as well.

Any love letters or cat video discussions that you will be downloading with this service?
