Late last night, the Android team updated their dashboards to reflect new platform distribution numbers as we head into October. As has been the trend over the last few months, Jelly Bean continues to expand its reach and is now on 48.6% of Android devices (up slightly from last month’s 45.1%). That doesn’t mean that 50% of the world is on 4.3, but that is a combined number of Android 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, since they all fall under the Jelly Bean name.
Ice Cream Sandwich now sits at 20.6%, Honeycomb remains alive at 0.1%, Gingerbread somehow still manages to hold 28.5%, and Froyo remains delightfully chilly at 2.2%.
