Earlier this week, CyanogenMod announced it was incorporating. One of their announcement hints was that they were already partnered with a mystery hardware vendor to bring an official CM-powered phone to market. Earlier today, manufacturer Oppo tweeted about its new device, the Oppo N1, and provided a link to a trailer. This is pretty basic marketing, but the real surprise in the room was an appearance from Steve Kondik, the founder of CyanogenMod.
Wearing Google Glass, he made the announcement that he would be joining the Oppo team in Beijing for the phone’s unveiling. He goes to let on that there will be an exciting announcement during this time. The video’s description also offers a glimpse at what may be happening. Could we see a partnership between CM and Oppo?
Nothing has been confirmed at this time, but today’s reveal brings an Oppo + CyanogenMod partnership that much closer to reality. Would you be interested?
