We have been awaiting the release of Plants vs. Zombies 2 for what feels like forever. Finally, it has arrived on Android, sort of. The only downer is that Popcap can’t seem to get anything right on the Android side of things, and still has yet to publish this game to Google Play. According to their blog, no matter where you live, the game will be available this fall.
If you want to play the game now, you will need to settle for the Chinese version which comes to us from the Baidu app store. It seems legit, but as always, you should be cautious when using apps that are not from Google Play. When you sideload this game, it will preview all of the permissions that this game requests. It will ask for full network access, Google Play billing service, read phone status and identity, and also the permission to send SMS messages. These could be pretty normal permissions for a game that would feature in-app billing and things of that nature, but as always, be cautious.
I played it for a few minutes and besides not being able to read anything, it was everything I had imagined. Go give it a whirl if you are up for it.
