NVIDIA SHIELD Launch Now Scheduled For July 31

NVIDIA SHIELD

Yesterday afternoon, NVIDIA reached out to folks that pre-ordered SHIELD, explaining that they have a brand new launch date for the Tegra 4-powered device. Due to a hardware-related issue discovered in the last stage of the company’s quality assurance tests, the SHIELD launch was pushed back from its original launch date of June 27 and is now scheduled for July 31

Here is the brief note sent out to those that pre-ordered.

We want to thank you for your patience and for sticking with us through the shipment delay of your SHIELD. We have great news to share with you – your SHIELD will ship on July 31st.

Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted SHIELD to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry. We built SHIELD because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

To sort of make up for the delay, it appears that NVIDIA is throwing in a free SHIELD t-shirt for those that pre-order the device. Free t-shirts never hurt, right?
