Last week, we saw a semi-questionable press render of the DROID ULTRA with a red racing stripe down its back leak for the world to see. We weren’t exactly sure what to make of it, but a new photo of a “Limited Edition” DROID ULTRA has surfaced with a semi-similar stripe, leading us to believe that there may be another variant of the ULTRA for either employees or special occasions.
As you can see from the picture, the kevlar back is given a V-shape design, with a centered red stripe targeted down the middle at the point of the V. If Motorola was trying for a “racing stripe,” this certainly accomplishes that look.
In terms of “Limited Edition” DROID devices, this is nothing new. There were limited editions of the original DROID RAZR MAXX and then the DROID RAZR MAXX HD with special red designs, however, they were only made for Verizon employees. And since both of those were the MAXX variants of their particular RAZR families, I wouldn’t be surprised if this picture is really of the DROID MAXX, rather than the ULTRA.
By the way, tomorrow is the day that we find out all there is to know about the new DROID family from Motorola. Stay close by, as we’ll have coverage for most of the day.
