Update: And just hours after we told you to relax, Verizon announced it.
I’m sure that many of you have read the rumors over the last couple of days which suggest that the Verizon 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Nexus could be called off. Is there any confirmation of that actually being a possibility? No. Plenty of testers have had the device for an extended period of time, we have seen the device in every VZW system known to man, potential launch dates, pictures of a device with Big Red’s LTE logo on it, and even a price for it on contract.
Is there a chance that Verizon, Google and Samsung are finalizing last minute details before launch? Of course. Do I get the feeling that we should all be worried? Not at all. You may remember that Verizon passed up on the Galaxy SII in favor of this device because they were going to get an exclusive on it. Things could have gone sour since those early talks with Google, but I just find that hard to believe at this point.
The only thing that scares me for a second, is the fact that Verizon was once all about the Nexus One and for some reason, pulled the plug at the last minute. This situation though, is completely different. From what we understand and have been told by more than 1 source is that Big Red is getting this in the U.S. before anyone else. Samsung’s PR actually confirmed this the other day before retracting their statement. To let this deal slip just weeks before we go live, would be a huge mistake that I do not believe any of these 3 companies would make.
Let’s all try to relax.
