When Motorola sends out invites to their feedback network members to join in on the testing of update, we normally just look at it as a bug fixer or something not incredibly important. But when the invite comes out on the day that Ice Cream Sandwich is announced to the world, we take notice. And that’s exactly what happened yesterday for Verizon XOOM owners.
In the invite (which we have pasted below), Moto refers to it as a “small test”, but we get the feeling it may not be so small. The interesting thing here, is that when you actually jump into their survey to see if you would be a good candidate for this test, they are very specific as to who they need.
Hi.
Thanks for joinng the Motorola Feedback Network. We are looking for a specific group of Motorola Xoom owners to help us with a small test. If you are able to help out, please take this short survey. It will determine if you are a good fit for the project, which should take place next week.
Please keep the details of this project confidential.

As you can see, not much in the email. However, in the survey that asks if you would be a good fit for this test, they ask whether or not you own a Verizon XOOM and if you have already upgraded to 4G. If you have, you don’t qualify. If you haven’t, you can participate. Also, the line we have pasted below is of extreme importance:
“We are looking for owners who have not upgraded their Xooms to LTE (4G) to help test a new software release from Google.”
Release from Google? Not sure that I remember the last time a Motorola soak test group email mentioned anything that specific. Could it be an update to Ice Cream Sandwich? We have heard that the XOOM could see it first. We
Cheers H and D!
