Frostwire P2P Sharing App Released for Free or $4.99

We’ve been following Frostwire since its alpha testing days back in June and are excited to see it officially launch today on the Android Market.  What is Frostwire?  A peer-to-peer application that allows users to share files over the internet with thousands of users or locally with just your friends on a personal network.  I hate to bring up the original Napster, but this falls into that category as a file sharing service.

Features:

– Search files in up to millions of devices.
– Browse the files of your closest peers.
– Download and offer files (your own and from others).
– Publish files to your favorite Social Networks.
– Public P2P Chatroom with file sharing features.
– Send private messages with attached files.
– Absolute control of what you share.
– Browse and rename your own files.
– Auto-updates.

*One recommendation* – I highly suggest that when you first load up the app, that you immediately go into Menu>Preferences and uncheck anything you do not wish to have shared.  Disconnect and reconnect to make sure the settings stick or you may be broadcasting everything on your phone to the world within seconds.

The team behind Frostwire has released it as a free app through their website and as a paid app for $4.99 in the market (use the QR code below).  As always, we highly suggest that you at least try to donate if you don’t go for the paid version.  You will find a “Love Frostwire?” button in the app which will allow you to (pictured here).
