We’re getting confirmations from all over the globe today that the Motorola Milestone is currently receiving Android 2.1. This morning we heard from Germany and this afternoon we’re getting reports from Hong Kong and Italy. If anyone follows the Moto Europe Facebook page, you can almost see the updates coming in by the minute. Here are a couple of Facebook posts confirming Hong Kong…
Motorola Europe – So the Hong Kong version is available, but as ever we would recommend you waiting your specific country/operator version update of Milestone for best results. Whilst we cannot provide the specific dates of each of these, hopefully this initial release demonstrates that Milestone 2.1 upgrade is a reality and the updates are starting to roll…please be patient, we think the update will be enjoyed by many…
Motorola Europe – That is fine Peter, we know there is lots of interest and desire in the upgrade. So Hong Kong has been released today, which hopefully shows that the upgrade is a reality and the roll out has started. Each country/operator version needs to go through testing, optimization and approvals by all concerned, and this means an inevitable staggering for each country. We do not have the confirmed dates for each of these, but your patience will be rewarded with a very useful upgrade when it arrives, and we will of course communicate the availability as it occurs…sorry we cannot be more specific at this stage.
For Milestone users not wanting to wait for their country to release the update, you can attempt to upgrade to 2.1 through Motorola Software Updater. Here is a link to the Hong Kong update page.
Cheers Bas!
